For people who clean up exported data

Fix a messy CSV
without breaking it.

Prooftable shows every change before it’s saved, keeps your original file as it is, and lets you reuse the same fixes on next month’s export. It runs on your own computer.

Prooftable reviewing an invented customer list: steps listed on the left, names and cities changed to Title Case and trimmed in the table, a duplicate row struck through, 28 changed values counted at the top, and the city column’s fixes in the panel on the right.

Fixes you choose, column by column

TRIM

Stray spaces

Removes spaces and tabs at the edges of values, marked so you can see them.

CASE

Letter case

UPPER, lower or Title Case for the columns you pick.

ROWS

Blanks and duplicates

Leaves out blank rows and duplicates, as exact whole-record matches or by key columns, keeping the first copy.

CHECK

Missing and wrong values

Flags empty required values and values that aren’t a number, date or email. Values stay as they are.

COLUMNS

The saved copy’s columns

Keep, drop, rename, reorder, join and split columns in the file you save.

REUSE

Saved steps

Save your fixes and reuse them on files with the same columns. You review every step first.

Your files, read as text

Comma, semicolon, tab and pipe separated files in UTF-8, UTF-16, Windows-1252 or ISO-8859-1, and sheets from Excel workbooks (.xlsx). Leading zeros, dates and IDs keep the text you see; nothing is guessed or converted unless you choose a fix.

Every save goes into a new folder with the clean file and a summary of what changed. Coming to macOS first, then Windows and Linux.

Prooftable showing one sheet of an Excel workbook: a sheet menu under Settings, Excel row numbers, the ID 007 kept with its leading zero, and date cells shown as 2024-03-01.
An Excel sheet opened as plain text: 007 keeps its zero and dates read 2024-03-01.
